Where I Stand
If we want more for Carteret and Craven County, we need Moore.
Lower insurance and electricity bills. A fair shot for small business. Healthcare our families can actually reach. Public schools our communities can be proud of. Here's what I'm fighting for — and why.
Where I Stand
I built my career in insurance, working with the small businesses, contractors, and homeowners. These are the fights I hear about at every kitchen table, boat ramp, and Main Street storefront — and the ones I'll take to Raleigh.
Issue 01
Lower Insurance Costs
Homeowners up and down the coast are opening their renewal notices and finding bills that have jumped hundreds of dollars in a single year — with no clear explanation and no real ability to shop around. For a lot of families on fixed or seasonal incomes, that's the difference between keeping the house and not.
I spent my career on the inside of this industry, and I know the difference between a rate increase that's justified and one that isn't. Raleigh has let insurers set the terms for too long. That has to change.
My Pledge
Push for real rate transparency, give homeowners tools to challenge unjustified increases, and stand up to insurers the same way I've done for my own clients for years.
Issue 02
Affordable Electricity
It's not just insurance. Electricity rates keep climbing, and the people who feel it first are seniors on fixed incomes and working families who don't have room in the budget to absorb another increase. Meanwhile, decisions about those rates get made in Raleigh boardrooms, far from the people who have to pay them.
Affordability isn't a talking point for most of this district — it's the monthly math everyone's doing at the kitchen table.
My Pledge
Fight for electricity rate reform that puts ratepayers first, demand accountability and transparency from utilities, and oppose rate hikes that aren't clearly justified.
Issue 03
Support for Small Business
Carteret and Craven County run on small business — fishing, boatbuilding, tourism, contracting, retail. There's no large employer picking up the slack here; Main Street is the economy. I've spent years in rooms with these owners talking about their insurance bills.
But when I ask what's really squeezing them, insurance is only part of the answer. General liability and workers' compensation costs have climbed fast, but so has nearly everything else it takes to keep the doors open — commercial property taxes, the cost of supplies and materials, and the burden of regulations written with big corporations in mind, not a five-person crew on Front Street.
My Pledge
Work to lower general liability and workers' compensation costs, push back on regulatory burdens that hit small operators hardest, and make sure Raleigh remembers who actually runs this county's economy.
Issue 04
Teachers & Public Schools
Our public schools belong to our communities — they're not a line item for Raleigh to fight over. I want to see teachers respected and supported, principals trusted to run their own buildings, and parents and communities with a real seat at the table.
That means backing the teachers who show up for our kids every day, and keeping decisions about our schools as close to home as possible — not dictated from Raleigh.
My Pledge
Fight for teacher pay and respect, push decision-making power back down to principals and local school communities, and defend public schools as assets our whole community owns.
Issue 05
Accessible Healthcare
Too many families in this district are driving further and waiting longer for basic care. Access to quality healthcare shouldn't depend on how far you're willing to drive or how much you're able to pay — it should be there for every family, close to home.
Every family in this district deserves care they can actually reach — not care that exists on paper but is an hour away in practice.
My Pledge
Fight to keep local hospitals and clinics open, expand access to affordable care in rural parts of the district including telehealth options, and hold the line against decisions made far from here that put our access to care at risk.
